High School Art 1

Learning About Color, Abstraction & Emotions
High School Art 1 students are currently learning about artists who specialize in Color and Abstraction. We also discussed how colors can convey emotions. We took a field trip to the Missouri Botanical Gardens and took photos that we are about to start drawing. Check out the links below to see some of our work!
Visual Journal Covers
High School Art 1 is off to a great start for Quarter 1! We have been learning about the Rubric Criteria, produced a Pre-Assessment Drawing, learned about Google Drawings, shared things we liked in a Digital Concept Map and used that information to create our Digital Sketchbook Cover Designs. Click the links below to see what we have made!

Welcome to High School Art 1!

High School Art 1 is an introductory course of art concepts and techniques meant to serve as a foundation for advanced courses. In this course students will learn about and experiment with various artistic media such as digital artworks, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and other materials in a studio environment. Students will develop a working knowledge of the elements of visual art to communicate ideas related to the creative process and artistic thinking. A Visual Journal will be utilized to write, think, paint, draw, take notes and plan projects. The course will incorporate differentiated learning in order to meet the needs of every student in our class. Some of the efforts will include, for example, video demonstrations, class critiques, focus on student choice with the goal of making everyone responsible for their own learning.
