Learning Together

High school students at LFLA are gaining valuable leadership and teaching experience through the school’s peer tutoring program, which places them in elementary classrooms as teacher’s aides. These student mentors assist younger learners with reading, math, and class activities, offering academic support while building meaningful connections across grade levels. The program not only helps elementary students strengthen their skills but also gives high schoolers a chance to develop patience, communication, and confidence as they take on a positive role in shaping the next generation of learners. “I like working with the young kids because it’s cool to see them get it,” said Tavaughna D., 9th grade. “When they finally understand something we’re helping with, it feels really good.”
