The 2014 Uber Asphalt Race Results can be found HERE.
The 2nd Annual Uber Asphalt offers participants two urban bike riding experience options.
CRUSHERS: An obstacle hunt where teams of two strategize their routes on a scavenger hunt through St. Louis, crushing obstacles & collecting bottle caps to be redeemed at race end for a 6 pack.
CRUISERS: Solo cyclists ride to each station but don’t complete obstacles. They collect bottle caps and play the Page Ripper Game, ripping pages from textbooks at each station. So the guy in front of you ripped out page 6, you have to grab 7 and hope to beat him to the next book/stop as you’ll add the totals of the page numbers at the ride’s end, and the rider with the lowest page number total, wins.
Every rider receives a commemorative pint glass free.
This is a fundraiser to benefit Lift For Life Academy, a St. Louis charter school serving 580 students.
This race will be limited to the first 500 teams to register, so register early. You don’t want to miss the fun.
- May 1st through May 31st $85 per obstacle team. $42.50 for a solo rider (solo riders don’t complete obstacles)
- June 1st through June 30th $90 per obstacle team. $45 for a solo rider
- July 1st through July 17th $100 per obstacle team. $50 for a solo rider
- After July 17th & race day $120 per obstacle team (does not guarantee shirt) $60 for a solo rider

This 2nd Annual Uber Asphalt offers participants several new urban bike competition experiences.
Crushers (Obstacle Racers Compete as a Team):
The original ride is an obstacle hunt using bikes, brains and brawn, where teams of two strategize their routes on a scavenger hunt through St. Louis that starts and ends at Lift For Life Academy, 1731 S. Broadway in Soulard. At six checkpoints (or more, we’re still deciding), riders collect bottle caps to be redeemed at the race’s end for a 6 pack of New Belgium beer, and for the under 21 crowd a 6 pack of craft soda. Every rider receives a commemorative pint glass free. This group is referred to as Crushers in the registration process and will require you to have one person register as the captain of the 2 person team (and pay) and the other to register as a member of the team. At the after party on July 19, there will be a prize for the top three co-ed teams, male teams, female teams and family teams (adult relative and child).
Cruisers (Cycling Racer Compete as Individuals):
This new division in 2014 offers individual riders who want to ride to each station but not compete in the obstacles. Solo cyclists – aka Cruisers – will collect bottle caps and play the Page Ripper Game, ripping pages from textbooks at each station. The rider with the lowest page number total at the end of the race, wins. Strategizing, speedy Cruisers will win this new category. There will be a prize for the top three female Cruisers and top three males.
The funds raised at Uber Asphalt will benefit the 6th grade students in our school’s literacy program. Our 6th grade students come to us, sometimes two to three grade levels behind in their reading abilities. Uber Asphalt will help pay for initiatives that will help improve their reading as they continue into the 7th and 8th grades. The longer a student attends Lift For Life Academy, the more time our teachers and volunteers can spend with them to improve their chances to succeed. Lift For Life Academy has 585 students in grades 6-12.
We have added the option for riders to fundraise online through personal pledge pages and help us serve these city children. You will be asked during registration if you wish to create a fundraising campaign. By raising as little at $100, you can receive prizes. We have prizes for various levels of fundraisers including $100 gift cards to Trader Joe’s and New Belgium Brewing cycling jerseys. And each fundraising rider will be entered in a drawing to win a trip to Fort Collins to tour New Belgium Brewing! Please consider helping in this way.
Event schedule and times
Both races begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, July 19.
Depending on your planned route, the approximate miles could be from 20 to 100.
PLEASE NOTE THE COURSE IS NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC.
How well do you know St. Louis? Leading up to the event, checkpoint clues will be posted on Uber Asphalt’s Facebook page. Cyclists choose their route and checkpoint order, giving a distinct advantage to the uber clever.
We are all winners! While there are prizes for the top in each division (men’s Crusher team, women’s Crusher team, coed Crusher team, family Crusher team, individual female Cruiser and individual male Cruiser), this ride is designed as an all-inclusive fun raiser. You can wear spandex and clip in, or flip flops and ride a cruiser. Just remember safety is our highest priority, and please be respectful of the rules of the road.
These will be announced within a week of the race, but will primarily be in the city limits of St. Louis.
Compliments of the house:
All participants will receive an event pint beer glass, the opportunity to earn a six pack of assorted New Belgium beers, a free after party, and the great feeling that you helped support literacy in St. Louis.
